Gillette to Newcastle Wyoming - 75 Miles
By Lucija:
After yesterday's killer of a ride, today was a welcome relief. 75 miles of flat, slightly downhill terrain with mild tailwinds. Everyone rode like a maniac and by noon most people were already in camp.
Instead of camping, today we got to sleep indoors inside an old elementary school that is now a seniors center. We slept on the floors of three former classrooms and were entertained when the local seniors band showed up for their band practice. A couple aged 80+ even got up do a little dance to the music. Pretty amusing.

As Lucija wrote, the course today was really easy and nice. I was still very tired when I arrived to the beautiful Senior Center in Newcastle. We rode pretty fast, maybe a little too fast, and reached camp at 10:45am. It was nice to have the entire afternoon free and I had one of the best naps ever!
Tomorrow we ride toward our rest day in Rapid City - the home of Mount Rushmore. The ride leads us through Custer National Park. It should be an awesome ride (Top 5, our ride director assures us) and I am looking forward to taking it easy, ride with Lucija and enjoy longer stops along the road.

As I said yesterday... when I think it can't get any dryer and hotter, it does!
