Owatonna to Winona Minnesota - 89 Miles
By Erwin:
Today was almost exactly as expected; a longer version of yesterday, but with nice surprise at the end; the mighty Mississippi River!
As expected, most of the ride led us through flat farmland, but today we also went through some bigger cities, such as Rochester, MN (home of the Mayo Clinic, a famously well run hospital with excellent researching doctors).
As per usual, Lucija left camp a little earlier than I did, so that I rode by myself early on in the ride. Suddenly, two cows ran onto the road, just in front of me and I almost hit them!
Lucija and I also watched some of the video footage that our camera men, Mark and his son, Sam have shot of us over the last month. It was cool to see ourselves on the bike. Even more so, it was great to see the other riders from the front for a change!
Tomorrow, we have a shorter ride of 66 miles. We'll be crossing the Mississippi into Wisconsin and climb out of the river valley. Should be a nice day.

We got a scenic treat today - the hills are back! It was fun to descend through the Mississippi hills today and reach the Mississippi river. Equally fun is the fact that we are staying at the Winona State University tonight. It is our final indoor stay of the trip and we appreciate the beds and university laundromat. Yeah, we get excited about things like that these days.
